Conservation Easements

As a Catholic faith-based land trust, the Saint Kateri Conservation Center accepts donations of conservation easements to protect land and water in perpetuity. For landowners, donating a conservation easement is a way to protect the place they love. It is also a major financial decision. When landowners donate a conservation easement, they give up part of the value of their property — often their family’s biggest asset. Tax incentives offset some of that loss in property value, making conservation a viable option for many landowners.

Donating Land

Giving your land to the Saint Kateri Conservation Center is a generous legacy you can leave to future generations. Donating land gives you an income tax deduction for the land’s fair-market value; avoids capital gains taxes; removes the property from your taxable estate; and supports conservation.

A landowner considering the donation of land or a conservation easement should consult an attorney before embarking on such a decision.
